Cygnus sat on the windowsill, looking out at the dark sky. He wondered if maybe it would be a better idea to go sit down by the fire and warm up.
Still, incredibly bloated from the feast, he chose to sit there a while longer. Cygnus released a dense sigh and looked around at the dorm. This was his final year here, and almost nothing had changed, except the fact that his bed moved up in the tower.
Alnitak flew up to the window and Cygnus let him in. There was already an envelope withhis name on it from Seric. He detached it and read with a smile.
"Cygnus,
Be a good lad, stay out of trouble and keep up with your studies."
It was hardly legible and he had to squint in places to read it, but Cygnus felt his heart rise, he missed Seric already.

Jackie entered the Gryffindor common room with a full stomach and threw herself onto the couch. As she did so, her prefect badge jabbed into her chest and she realized she should probably being doing something that a prefect would do. But she was tired, and yelling at some first year was not on her to do list at that moment. She sighed as she stared at the ceiling and wondered where everyone was. Most of them were probably still at the feast, or sleeping in bed, but it was the first night back....shouldn't they be celebrating? As she thought about this, she recalled last year and how they all stayed up late and had a welcome back party. A smile stretched across her lips and she closed her eyes for a moment.

Cygnus grabbed a roll of parchment and trooped downstairs, deciding that the commonroom might be a nicer, warmer atmosphere to write home again.
"Jackie, hi." Cygnus felt a warm smile grow across his face.

Jackie sat up, startled by the sudden voice. When she recognized the familiar face, she smiled. "Hey Cygnus- how're you these days?" she replied, drawing her knees up to her body and resting her chin on them.

"Not too bad, I hope your train ride was more pleasant than mine," Cygnus sat next to her, his things tucked under his arm. "It's gonna be a great year, I think./"

"Ah, the ride was alright. Sounds like yours didn't go too swell?" replied Jackie, looking from the window to Cygnus. She was hoping this was going to be a great year, it had to be.

Jackie nodded and glanced around the room, eventually focusing her gaze back on him. "Hows your sister...everything okay between you two?" she inquired. Even though Jackie was shy, she studied people alot and because of it, she usually had a good insight on them.
