Exhausted

Kendall raised a brow at this one and looked from Delilah to Alex, shifting uncomfortably in her seat. Her heart rate quickened and she couldn't bring herself to look at him anymore. So, she stared at her split ends and twirled them around her finger until Alex spoke.

Alex cursed inwardly. Of course, of all the things it had to be.. this was what it was going to come down for. It was a simple question, and he knew the answer.. it was just difficult to say. "Well, thanks Delilah.." He mumbled. "I guess I may as well just come out with it, I like Kendall. Have for awhile.." He shifted uncomfortably, unsure of how they would react.

"Fine," Delilah stated, trying to blink back tears. She had liked- even loved, maybe, Alex since first year. And he had chosen some quidditch playing sixth year? "You guys can have your little 'Oh, Alex, I love you too,' moment. I guess I'll go then," She turned toward the dorms and let her tears fall. She had reached the hallway where no one could see her and she broke down, trying to be as quiet as possible.

Kendall blushed deeply and her stomach flipped over about a dozen times. After a long 60 seconds, she managed to look at Alex and smile sheepishly. She wanted to say something..needed to say something, right? Half of her mind was leaping for joy and the other half was worried about her dangerous Ex. It was impossible to imagine how many thoughts were tangling themselves inside her brain.

Kendall watched Delilah leave and almost felt bad for her, but she had to acknowledge Alex or he might think she didn't have the same feelings for him. "Alex...you know- well." she broke off, the corner of her mouth barely dangling upwards in a small smile. She wasn't sure what to say...Kendall was speechless for once in her life.

Alex bit his lip, worried at her reaction. He wasn't sure if he should go after Delilah and calm her down, or stay and sort things out with Kendall. His heard was telling him one thing, but his concience was telling him another. He debated in his head, and decided that it would probably take longer to go after Delilah, so he would talk with Kendall first.

"I.. probably shouldn't have said anything. It'll just cause trouble. She probably hates me.. but.. that might get her off me for a few moments. And you, well you probably never liked me..so this is a bit awkward. Really, sorry you had to.. hear that.. I'll shut up now and save myself any further embarassment.." He rambled on for a few minutes.

He looked up at Kendall and saw, not a look of disgust, but a smile. Did that mean Alex did have hope? Alex shut his mouth and thought about how stupid he sounded. She wouldn't be happy if she didn't have some feelings for him. He walked over and gave her a swift kiss on her lips.

Kendall was as shocked as a girl can be. The shy Alex she had known forever, the one who she's had a crush on forever had actually came up and kissed her. Getting lost in the moment, she groped for something and found his neck, resting her hand there. She broke away and smiled sheepishly again. "That's been long-awaited, but I'm glad it finally came..." she said. After staring into his face for a long time, worry and fear began to show in her eyes and she looked down at her feet. "Remember Jake...? You hated him I think. W-well he'll find out..he finds out everything. What if- he can't do anything to me if I'm in Hogwarts right?" she said, almost to a frantic ramble. If her Ex ever found out, it would not be a pretty sight. He was an obsessed freak.

Alex's smile faltered for a moment. "I'll keep you safe. Nothing will happen to you while I can help it. I promise." He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her in tight. His previous worries about Delilah quickly faded away to the back of his mind. Of course, he'd have to apologize eventually.. but what was the worst Delilah could do. She wasn't exactly the brains of the school, she couldn't get too nasty.

Kendall's worries seemed to fade as Alex held her and she closed her eyes for a moment while resting her head on his chest. "Thanks Alex." she replied. After a few moments passed by, she smiled and looked up at him. "Does this mean I can slack off in practice now?" she said, although joking of course. That would obviously never work out. "Hmm, I snogged the Captain. That's fun to think about..."

"And I snogged the daughter of The Boy Who Lived. Now I'm worried. How's he going to take this..?" Alex smiled. Of course, he knew Harry through his father. They still talked and went to dinner sometimes, so it would be strange if Harry found out. "Is he one of the overprotective fathers that goes all.. crazy? My dad'll be fine with it.. he's been urging me to get a girl since the day I started here" Alex thought back to the less than fond memories of his father trying to teach him how to woo a girl.

Kendall smiled and thought about it for a moment. "I think he'll be okay with it. Afterall, your dad did teach him how to play Quidditch. So he owes your family a favor, and that can be through us." she replied. "Best not tell him yet though. If he does get protective, he might send one of those dreadful letters that scream at you. It might be a good idea to tell my mom, so she can tell him..." she added, basically thinking aloud.

"I can deal with a howler. As long as he's not storming up here to kill me I think I'll be fine." He smiled. He was relieved by the news, he didn't want to cause any trouble with the Potters. He yawned loudly, it had been quite the long day. "It's getting late, but I won't go to bed just yet." He picked her up and carried her over to the couch so he could sit down. "Better?"

Kendall was getting a little tired herself, but she just brushed the feeling away because she probably wouldn't be able to sleep anyways. "Much better." she replied. She thought she heard a sob outside the portrait hole and that reminded her of Delilah. But before she could feel any sumpathy for her, another thought popped into her mind. "Oh! I almost forgot. How could you dare Delilah to swim across the lake without..anything, and enjoy it?....Gross."

"It was meant for you of course." Alex nodded. He would have dared Kendall to do it, but Delilah was first. "She doesn't play Quidditch though, so she's not nearly as appealing as you. Not that I would know." Alex smiled hoping she wouldn't pick up on the fact that he did know. It wasn't his fault he was in on the Weasley twins hidden peep holes. Somehow they managed to make them in all the Quidditch locker rooms, but what place with skimpily clad girls could hold those two out?

Kendall furrowed her brows and searched his expressions for a moment. "You're right, you wouldn't know. But maybe someday you will, depends on if I can still stand being around you in the future..." she replied in a non-joking tone, but a smile cracked anyways. "Speaking of quidditch, we haven't practiced in a whole 24 hours, whats going on C'ptain?" she said, running her fingers through his unbrushed hair.

Alex grinned at the thought of seeing her without hiding with his friends behind the peephole. "Sounds good to me. I'll try to stick around as long as I can." Alex wasn't really sure how long it would last, but he knew that on his part he had no intention of ending the relationship. Alex's thoughts shifted to the sorry state he'd left Delilah in. "I feel a bit bad about leaving Delilah like that. I'm going to talk to her for just a second to make sure she's okay. If you don't mind of course." He shifted a bit anxiously, he hated making people upset and he wasn't sure how Kendall would feel about him talking to Delilah. He wasn't sure yet how she would feel about him talking to other girls, especially Delilah.
