Amity shuffled into the commonroom and sat down hard. She was exhausted, after her practice routine for the upcoming Quidditch match. Her arms hurt like heck, and she was ready to saw them off. But she knew she couldn't do that. It would make her useless to the team, and she'd been working her butt off all these years to be on it. She leaned foreward in her chair and stared at the fire, finding it somewhat calming.

Alex trudged up to the commons, wincing as he moved. One of his new chasers had fallen off their brooms and he'd nearly broken his arm trying to save him. He had bruises up and down his body, and his arm was bent awkwardly. He was just briefly taking his Quidditch gear up to his room before going to the hospital wing to get checked over. Looking about the commons, he spotted one of his other new players. He decided he could spare a few moments warming up to her. "'Lo Amity. Rough practice today, huh?" He said with a smile. Even on his death bed, Alex would smile.

Kendall was behind Alex, a thin line spread across her lips. She was banned from yet another quidditch practice because of her detention. She hated confronting the captain when she had to miss a practice, but Kendall had promised him this was the last time it would happen. She recieved a week of detentions for pranking the Slytherins during potions class, and today was her last day of punishment.
She slipped a hand in her hoodie pocket as she made her way over to her two teammates. She gave a 'sorry...again' glance toward her good friend Alex and quickly diverted her attention to Amity, trying to ignore the dissapointed look from him. "So..Amity, how'd you like practice? You looked great out there! I was able to sneak a peek from one of the windows to watch you guys." exclaimed Kendall with as much enthusiasm she could muster.

Amity waved a hand. "Naw. You okay though? Saw you go down hard." she felt just about as beat as he looked, but she didn;t want to seem weak, he'd actually remembered her name, unlike her other "friends." She winced as she moved her ankle as she turned to face him, she had forgotten about the bludger that had hit her there. Actually, she hadn't really thought much of it.
She turned to Kendall. "Thanks!" she said, smiling. She wasn't strong in beauty like other girls, she was more cute than pretty.

"I think I'll be okay. It's not broken, but I might have to rest it for a bit." Alex mumbled. He hated getting injured, it made him feel as if he was letting his team down. He prodded his arm lightly, but cringed as a wave of pain seared throughout his body. Alex set his Quidditch gear down to relieve his arm as much as possible. He grinned over at two girls near him. "Anyone willing to escort their lovable keeper to the hospital wing? It's worse than I thought." He feigned a hurt expression and put on his puppy dog eyes. "No one can resist my puppy dog eyes right?," He thought pompously to himself. To emphasize his injury he stuck out his arm, which was covered in bruises, for them to see.

Kendall rolled her eyes, but smiled. She wasn't quick to leave her comfy chair, but those familiar, yet irresistable eyes drew her to get up and walk towards him. "Aww, did Alex get hurt playing a big boys' game today?" she joked, walking past him to the portrait hole. She stepped out and sighed, twirling a peice of hair around her finger. Ever since these stupid detentions, her and Alex weren't as close as they used to be, and she wanted to fix that.
Kendall waited for the other two while mulling over some plays for quidditch. With all of her time off, she was starting to think about some moves and plays that may just work. She couldn't wait to tell Alex.

Amity stood and stretched her arms. "Sure. I should probably get my ankle looked at, but its probably fine. I've broken that ankle before." she said and walked over to the portrait hole. She limped a little, but her ankle didn't seem to be bothering her all that much. "But your arm now, I don't know about. But don't worry, if anyone can fix it, Madame Pomfrey can!" Quidditch accidents happened all he time. Alex's injuries couldn't be that hard for Madam Pomfrey to fix, could they? Of course not. Amity thought, shaking off any negative thoughts.

Alex grinned and trailed after the two girls. "Yeah, little Alex might need someone to carry him there if it gets any worse." Alex caught a glimpse of Amity limping a little and started to worry. He couldn't afford for one of his new teammates to get injured so early in, not when his other players were stuck in detention all the time. Alex gently pushed the portrait closed behind him and placed himself between the two girls. Of course, Alex was usually shy around girls, but he was close friends with Kendall and he needed to talk more to Amity. She is on his Quidditch team after all. "Shall we go than? I'm sure your ankle will be fine, just needs the Madame Pomfrey magic touch."

Kendall smiled when they joined her and walked along side Alex, taking a look at his injured arm. Her smile faded slightly and even more so when she noticed Amity's limp. A sudden quietness came over her, which was very rare as her close friends probably know, and she walked quietly the rest of the way. Quidditch was/is/and will always be her life and for some reason she has been having to prove that to people, mainly her father and Alex, who seem to think she is letting her careless mistakes take over her concentration on quidditch. Kendall has been the Hufflepuff seeker ever since her first year and she had never failed at doing a good job before...but am I starting to slack? she thought to herself, worry and shame running through her.
When Kendall Potter started to doubt herself, the doubt never ceased to stop growing. It was one of her faults. So, she kept doubting herself. I don't even know half the team anymore, I haven't participated in so long...am I really still part of it? As one of her habits, she took out her wand and ran her fingers along the wood. One of the 7 year kids was talking about that new first year seeker, did she deserve my spot? She took a side glance at her two teammates and her stomach twisted into a knot, Are they thinking the same thing I am?

Amity nodded and grinned. "Like I said, that whole leg has seen worse before." she said confidently. As a beater, it was her job to make sure she could withstand damage like that, especially since Beaters dealt with Bludgers more often than the Quaffle or the Snitch. "I'm gonna be fine. I'll be ready and rearing to go at practice tomorrow, you'll see! We'll make a name for Hufflepuff in Quidditch yet!"
She looked at Kendall. "Hey, you okay? You seem kinda down." she said, worry creasing her brow. "C'mon, we all gotta be confident! We're gonna dominate the Quidditch Pitch!" she had always been good at cheering people up. It was a good trait among bad, but sometimes she got to be annoying when they wouldn't cheer up. So then it was a bad trait. But Amity, being the positive person that she was, liked to think of it as a good one in any case.

"Ah, Kendall's just jealous she doesn't have battle scars like us. Though.. if she'd have been at practice things may have changed." Alex snickered. He was just joking of , course, and he hoped she didn't take it the wrong way. He did feel that she needed to get back in line, he couldn't have troublemakers on his team. Especially not when they didn't show up for practice.. and even if they are Kendall. He'd been working a little with some of the first years and one of them, he couldn't recall the name off the top of his head, had amazing skill as a seeker (For a first year that is.) Alex husteld a little to get to the Hospital Wing, as his arm was starting to throb with pain.

Kendall gave a small nod to Amity, "Yeah, I'll be fine." she replied. Her glass-like green eyes stared straight ahead as they were approaching the Hospital Wing, not caring to pass over Alex. "I already told you why and when I wouldn't be at practice, you can drop it now. I'll be there tomorrow." she said quietly. "I'm going to go...somewhere. Feel better guys." said Kendall, leaving the two of them.

Amity glared at Alex. "Now look what you've done! She's all depressed now!" she said irritably. "Hey, Kendall!" she called, but the other girl was already gone. She gave an exhasperated sigha and said, "Well, let's get going. We need to be better for tomorrow."

Alex's smile quickly fell. He absolutely hated making people mad, especially friends of his. "It wasn't my fault. She... she should have been there." Alex frowned and irritably pushed open the door t the Hospital Wing. He sat down as Madame Pomfrey gushed over his arm.
"Oh, you poor dear! Quidditch really should be banned." She mumbled as s worked some magic wit her wands. A small bottle of salves flew into her hand and she used it to quickly dress his wounds. Alex's bruises seemed to disappear instantly and the pain in his arm subsided. "You next dear." She said motioning for Amity to come over.
"Hey, I'll.. see you around. I want to go apologize.. Unless you want to come. It'd be less awkward with you there." Alex called out to Amity as Madame Pomfrey pushed him toward the door. He ducked under her arms and looked over at Amity with a hopeful look in his eyes.

Amity waved. "Yea, sure. Wait for me, if you want me to come. My ankle's not nearly as bad as your arm was. I'll be out in no time." She gave a reassuring smile. Madame Pomfrey muttered some more about Quidditch, some of it Amity understood, the other stuff she didn't. What she did hear she wanted to protest against, say a good thing about Quidditch, but she managed to hold her tongue for once. When the nurse finished dressing Amity's ankle, the girl stood and thanked her. "Thank you Madame Pomfrey." she said sincerely. Then she jogged out, her ankle feeling much better. When she exited the Wing, she looked around. "Alex?" she called quietly.
